Knotty
alder is the primary wood used in this collection of furniture.
Other woods, such as walnut, may be inlaid or used as trim
to compliment the alder. The design of these pieces may vary from
mission style, arts and crafts style, shaker style, to a very refined
southwestern look. The wood may be somewhat distressed, or
highly finished for a more elegant rustic look. Stone, such
as granite, may also be used to provide a solid earthy appeal. We
also use copper to accent these pieces. Knotty
alder has the personality of pine, yet has the strength of maple. The
wood is light brown in color with yellow, pink, and peach hues.
Oils and stains can further highlight the beautiful grain. The
open, solid knots give alder a more informal presence, without
sacrificing any characteristics of other hardwoods. The popularity
of alder can be seen in cabinetry, door construction, and in the
general finish and trim work of fine homes. These pieces
of furniture may find there way into your home or lodge, and should
compliment most interior designs.
